The head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, announced that she will prioritize the Oyamel sports fields, which have historically been abandoned. Brugada emphasized that a terminal for the new Cablebus line will be built at this location, a silent and fast transportation system that will benefit residents by connecting them to the Metro of CDMX.
Although she did not specify the start of the works, Brugada assured that the service will be available in two years. "We are starting, we have the resources to begin, and construction is underway," stated the mayor during the Casa por Casa event in the Tierra Unida neighborhood, where she was accompanied by Mayor Fernando Mercado.
In a subsequent interview, Brugada mentioned that studies to define the exact route of the Cablebus and continue with the international bidding will conclude in approximately a month. The Secretary of Works and Services, Raúl Basulto, explained that the first Cablebus line to go out for bidding will be Line 4, which crosses Tlalpan, and that Line 5 will be the next project.
Brugada also announced the construction of Utopía Oyamel in the Tierra Unida sports fields, which will include facilities for seniors, a jogging track, rehabilitation center, and comprehensive medical care. Utopía Oyamel will be a space focused on health, with services including general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, nutrition, and mental health consultations.
Additionally, Brugada confirmed that this year construction of Line 5 of the Cablebus will begin, which will connect Mixcoac with Tierra Unida. She emphasized the importance of providing services to peripheral and remote areas of the city, implementing territorial justice and equity in the provision of services for all residents.
